Make Cow a National Animal: Rajasthan High Court.


Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court has suggested that Cow should be declared as national animal of India and the punishment for cow slaughter should also be increased to life imprisonment. Cow a National Animal  
The HC was hearing a PIL by an organization which sought steps for the protection of cows. The high court gave its suggestion to the Indian government to declare cow as national animal. At present tiger is identified as the national animal of India. Cow a National Animal  
Justice Mahesh Chand Sharma, said in his verdict:” Nepal is a Hindu nation and has declared cow as national animal. India is a predominant agriculture country based in animal rearing. As per Article 48 and 51A (g) it is expected from the state government that they should take action to get a legal entity for cow in this country."
